During the Ph.D

The Doctoral School “Cultures, Societies, Territories” (CST) is one of the two doctoral schools of the Université Savoie Mont Blanc.

CST will welcome doctoral students in the fields of Arts, Humanities, Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences and Law, Economics, Management of the institution. It brings together four laboratories of the Université Savoie Mont Blanc from these various disciplines.

The doctoral school provides training for doctoral students during the preparation of their thesis in order to open up their fields of knowledge and competence.

Its scientific and pedagogical policy aims to offer a broad spectrum of training, allowing for differentiated, coherent, and high-quality courses, to prepare future doctoral students for professional integration, to strengthen international openness by encouraging the preparation of theses under joint supervision and the mobility of its doctoral students, as well as the hosting of foreign doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows. It also encourages cross-disciplinary actions and cooperation with regional partners within the framework of thematic networks, and to develop communication and dissemination of the scientific culture.

This training for research students is based on a modular offer spread over three years. It has the advantage of helping to create a thematic network of doctoral schools from several institutions. Within this framework, the student-researchers of  CST can be led to validate one or more specialty modules within the network, just as the modules offered by the ED CST can be validated by doctoral students from other doctoral schools.
